10 Tips For Playing Bloodborne

4. Never Buy Bullets Or Blood...

Speaking of which, the Hunter's Dream is...well, a dream to long-time Souls players. The area is basically the game's €œsafe zone€, and can be accessed from the sparsely scattered lanterns throughout the game (there's one right near the start, then a new one is formed at the site whenever you defeat a boss). Whenever you go there, you're safe from enemies; however, all the bad guys you slayed will respawn. Anyway, that's not worth worrying about right now. Besides being a place to chill out, to learn some more of the game's oblique plot and €“ after a certain level of insight has been gained by fighting bosses €“ levelling up your abilities, the Hunter's Dream is where you can buy stuff. In the Souls games, you had to happen upon a merchant who would hawk their wares to you. But now you can just pop back to the Hunter's Dream and start spending those hard-earned Blood Echoes. Just make sure you spend them wisely. You don't, for example, ever need to buy Blood Vials (to restore health) or Quicksilver Bullets (loaded into your firearm). You'll come across those all the time in the actual game, picked up from almost every enemy you come across. Spend all your early Echoes on Molotov Cocktails, which are great against larger adversaries.
