If this were a list of the most annoying video game weapons, then those featured in Mario Kart would probably fill half the slots. In a game where first place is the most dangerous position to be in, the arsenal made available to Nintendo's karters contains some irritatingly efficient means to disrupt your opponents. One of the most annoying weapons in Mario Kart is the banana peel. Accidentally driving into this slippery yellow item will result in the vehicle spinning helplessly out of control, giving opponents an easy opportunity for an overtake. At first thought, it seems to make sense. It probably hasn't happen to you, but a misstep onto a nastily placed banana peel could easily lead to an embarrassing faceplant. However, this isn't Mario Marathon, it's Mario Kart, with an emphasis on the Kart. Driving over even the most oversized fruit is unlikely to result in anything but a slight bump in the suspension. Unless there's an obscure custom in some European country that makes it offensive to toss fruit out of your window, there's no way a banana peel on the road is going to cause anything but a fresh splatter on the tarmac. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoLAT7R1Hmw
