10 Touching Video Game Moments You Probably Missed

2. Tina's Denial - Borderlands 2

Tiny Tina is one of the most intriguing characters in a game filled with them. The psychopathic 13 year-old is a demolitions expert, and a key character throughout the games. At a young age, she was rescued by series favourite Roland from being tortured by raiders, and looks up to Roland as something of a father figure. Now, SPOILER ALERT for those who aren't familiar with the Borderlands 2 storyline. In one of the series' most shocking moments, Roland gets killed by the main antagonist, Handsome Jack. In the Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep DLC, it immediately gets established that Tina is in denial about Roland's death, as the vault hunters sit down for a game of Bunkers and Badasses (essentially Dungeons and Dragons), and Tina suggests that they wait for Roland to arrive before starting. The others gathered around the table awkwardly try to tell her that he won't be coming. Tina sweetly dismisses the hints, and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1iB8EaDeyuQ It's a fleeting moment that reminds you that Tina, despite being as lethal and insane as the rest of the vault hunters, really is that thirteen-year-old child she appears to be; unwilling to process death and not allowing herself to grieve, despite living in a world surrounded by it. It's an incredible reminder that some kind of innocence does exist in Pandora. The whole DLC could be seen as Tina working through her knowledge deep down that Roland really is dead, and it builds up to an excellent conclusion that poignantly completes her personal journey.
