2. Agatha - Pokémon Red & Blue

After the chilling events at Lavender Tower in Pokémon Red & Blue, players probably would have had just about enough of Ghost Types. Sadly the restless spectre in the tower wasn't the last one to be faced in Generation One, and Agatha's ghostly team in the Elite Four will bring the nightmares flooding back.

Agatha's team will do exactly what you'd expect a team of mostly Ghost Types would do: they will frustrate and tease you into submission. Confusion is likely to be a regular occurrence for your Pokémon as four of her five battlers are able to inflict it directly. You'll also see your precious team put to sleep and tormented by Gengar or paralysed and beaten by a strong Arbok.

Agatha is likely to be the longest battle you'll experience in Kanto's Elite Four. While she's never likely to quickly blow your team away with an onslaught of powerful attacks, her cunning team will slowly grind your Pokémon down until you suddenly realise the battle has slipped through your fingers.
