10 Truly Terrible Video Games Based On Great TV Shows

6. Doctor Who: Return to Earth

Raise your hand if you purchased and attempted to play this game… Just me? Oh brilliant.

I should’ve known from the very beginning that a Doctor Who title wouldn’t be a swashbuckling adventure but I was intrigued as to how they would handle a character who relies on intelligence rather than grunt.

Horrendously as it transpires. The enemy AI is so dim-witted; it’s like running through a wax museum – seriously there’s virtually no threat to the Doctor throughout the entire game. Add in a weapon of sorts, something the Doctor never actually uses, in the form of a projectile firing Sonic Screwdriver, and you begin to understand why Matt Smith’s voice over sounds as dejected as Harrison Ford’s over the crap ending of Blade Runner.

And just look at the state of it. That's a Wii game, released in 2010. Seriously. Mario Galaxy, it ain't.

One positive is the Sonic Screwdriver Wii Remote accessory but even that is a flimsy attempt at trying to make the game a collector’s item. Nintendo paid the BBC £10 million to bring Doctor Who to the Wii and DS – money that would’ve been better spent on literally anything else.

Probably the only person ever to see all the endings of the awful Shadow the Hedgehog video game. Professional proofreader, football fanatic, lion tamer and occasional liar.
