10 Truly Terrible Video Games Based On Great TV Shows
4. South Park 64
Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been making South Park for 19 years now and the show has just entered its 20th series – which is impressive for a series that started life as a badly drawn animation intended to attract the attention of viewers who love farts, swearing, and casual racism.
A successful series almost always gets a video game and, lo and behold, 1998 saw Acclaim (yes, them again) take everything the cartoon was and port it to the N64 - minus any of the satire the show was famous for. This was probably the first video game that saw its audience lose their minds over the repetitive voice acting. How many times could you listen to Cartman saying "Respect m Authoritah!" without losing the plot?
Thankfully, things have improved for South Park as far as video games are concerned and the N64 entry is kept quiet for the most part. Seriously, don’t play this game if you haven’t already; it’ll save you a lot of irritation and frustration at never finishing a level without having to deal with irksome ‘tanks’. Google it: you’ll wish you hadn’t, but you need to know.
