8. The Stat Whore

Direct you attention to the photo above. Now, (and I swear, you XBOX players have some funky names) if I were to identify the player who had the best game, you'd look at Frodo, who despite his three bars, managed to lead his team to victory, and you might say him, correct?

Now, I direct your attention to Netsky Benzh, who's absurdly excellent score is indicative of the oft-encountered stat-whore.

These are the players who are talented, occasionally arrogant, and downright selfish. Whereas the try-hard at least has the common decency to assist your team in winning the game, the stat-whore is a me-first player. They are talented, yes, but only offer any actual contribution to the team when they're playing Team Deathmatch. Their Kill to Death ratio may be staggering, but their win to loss ratio is typically abysmal.

Now, at this point, you may wonder why a stat-whore is a bad thing. "Surely, a guy on my team who gets kills is a bonus, right?"

Not quite.

In game modes that have limited numbers of lives, or a the aforementioned TDM, yes, this is truly a benefit. In games that have an actual objective (i.e., Capture the Flag, Domination, King of the Hill, etc, etc,), kill count doesn't necessarily win you the game. The stat whore tends to ignore the objective of the round, or any notion of assisting his or her team - they're mainly in it to inflate their K/D ratio at the expense of their team getting it right where it hurts. Even greater than the try-hard, their desire to inflate their "e-penis" is their top priority. But then again, not all players have penises, do they?
