Look, I know every year every single media outlet at some point says that Resident Evil 7 is on its way, but 2016 has to be the time this classic zombie series returns from the dead, right?

Although Capcom has seen success in re-releasing classic games in the series, you have to assume those profits are being used to fund a brand new entry into the franchise. While we know the publisher hasn't exactly had the best time financially recently, there's nothing stopping them from teaming up with either Microsoft or Sony to get the money they need to release a new version of one of their biggest properties.

Hell, no matter how bad the previous game was, could you imagine how much of a win it would be for Microsoft or Sony to secure a dark, back-to-its-roots Resident Evil 7? Even if the 2016 release of multiplayer spin-off Umbrella Corps lessens the chance of playing a full main-series release, we've got to see something from Resident Evil 7 this year.
