Top-down shooters are something of a forgotten gem in the modern video game sphere, but this writer will be damned if the original Grand Theft Auto games didn’t teach us just how fun they can be.

God’s Trigger is born of that floor-facing mould, a co-op bloodbath that sees two players take on the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse—but in a modern-day setting.

Now, the less said of about developer OneMoreLevel’s decision to name its pair of protagonists Harry and Judy, the better.

Although we will say those monikers are better suited to a daytime telly presenter duo rather than good-willed soldiers of fortune and leave it there.

OneMoreLevel show their indie nous in this release—and that’s a good thing—as God’s Trigger looks to bring us something out of the ordinary but with themes we can all get along with. Y’know, things like guns, knives and bloodshed in large quantities, the old video-game favourites.

Visually, this chaotic number looks sublime, and the skill-based method of play is sure to pull in players across PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
