10 Underrated Video Games Based On Movie Franchises
8. John Wick Hex
One of the more original releases on this list, developer Bithell Games took the John Wick licence and did something unique, but still excellent. Its indie status has resulted in the game having flown under many people’s radars since it released in 2019, but it is well worth a look.
Telling an original story set before the events of the films, the game sees players control John Wick through a series of levels in a top-down strategy format.
Taking some inspiration from the likes of X-Com, players must engage enemies in a version of turn-based combat, with a timeline dictating the order of moves performed by both Wick and the enemies he faces.
The game offers a strategic challenge, recreating the kind of ballet that John Wick performs when fighting, to outmanoeuvre his opponents.
Both Lance Reddick and Ian McShane reprise their roles from the films, providing a feeling of authenticity to the experience. Overall, John Wick Hex is an excellent title, that more people should check out.
