2. Transformers
While the Michael Bay directed explodathons that are the Transformers films have never really seen much critical acclaim, the games have seen moderate success. While now considered extremely dated, the first Transformers game contains some redeeming qualities.
Releasing in 2007 to mixed reviews, the transformation mechanic and destructible world elements are still enjoyable today, and the shooting, while basic, is a lot of fun.
Players could enjoy a lot of game for their money with two distinct campaigns to choose from, either working with the Autobots, or the villainous Decepticons. Various characters could be played as throughout the game too, some with unique abilities.
Visually impressive for its time, with original voice actors reprising their roles from the film and TV series, this is one movie tie in that worked to elevate the licence, where many have failed.
Criticised at the time for a short campaign and repetitive missions, in retrospect this is one title that should be considered a bold effort, with mechanics that were definitely ahead of the curve.
