10 Underrated Video Games Nobody Appreciated In Their Time

4. Heavy Rain Was A "Narrative Heavy Game" Three Years Too Early

A narrative-driven crime thriller, Quantic Dream's Heavy Rain today is considered one of the most interesting releases of the PS3 era. Back in 2010 though, many players wondered whether Heavy Rain could be considered a game at all.

Criticised for being an 'interactive movie' and taking too much control away from players, like Indio Prophecy before it, the choose-your-own-adventure title wasn't given a chance by audiences at the time. Sure, it found some love from the core Playstation fanbase, but not enough to spark a trend in this kind of gameplay.

Had it dropped now, in an era where 2013's The Walking Dead and Gone Home both proved that story-driven titles could be gigantic successes, Heavy Rain probably would have been a bigger deal.

As time has changed, audiences have warmed to narrative heavy games like this, and as a result the developer's upcoming Detroit: Become Human will probably be a much bigger hit than any of the studio's previous releases.
