10 Underrated Video Games That Need Sequels
7. Midnight Club: Los Angeles
Midnight Club was a racing title released by Rockstar Games. Capitalizing on the street racing craze in the 2000s, it featured an open world and vehicle customization. Subsequent entries added new locations as well as new cars to choose from.
The most recent instalment, Midnight Club: Los Angeles, was released in 2008. The game recreated a digital LA while the city's simulated traffic served as hurdles during races. Building on the previous title, it added more licensed vehicles from Toyota, Ford, Lamborghini, Nissan, Kawasaki, Ducati and more. Police pursuits were also tweaked to be much more challenging. Unlike previous entries where these encounters were scripted, the LA police could chase players at any time, making races even more intense.
Finally, Midnight Club: Los Angeles showcased car abilities such as Argo, EMP, Roar and Zone. These moves could be used by racers to alter the outcome of races and affect nearby drivers. For example, Roar could be used to clear any incoming vehicles while Zone could slow down time.
Because Rockstar Games shifted their complete attention to GTA and Red Dead Redemption, the Midnight Club series has remained dormant. With street racing games become more and more rare, a new entry could bring renewed interest to the genre.
