10 Unfair Dark Souls Enemies
3. Exploding Mummies - Dark Souls 2
Dark Souls 2, much more than the other two games, seemed to think that equipment breaking was a fun mechanic. They must have, when you look at all the various ways it could be accomplished. Corrosive urns, acid pools and the pyromancy Acid Surge were all capable of breaking rings and equipment in pretty short order.
The worst offenders by far were the suicide-hollow mummies. There are a couple of variations on the theme but their general attack was to run towards you, fling themselves on the ground and then explode for some beefy damage.
The ones in Dragon Aerie were particularly annoying, as they had an acid explosion and seemed to be hidden around every corner in places you wouldn’t expect. Often, the first warning you would get was an explosion, the sound of your Third Dragon Ring breaking, and then you were heading back to the bonfire to go get your stuff repaired.
Not enjoyable to sit through multiple loading screens to get everything repaired, only to warp back and get surprised by another mob that you hadn’t noticed and have to repeat the exercise over again.
Best handled with a bow, patience and plenty of repair powder.
