6. Nemesis Kills Brad - Resident Evil 3: Nemesis
Resident Evil 3: Nemesis continued the story of the T-Virus outbreak in Raccoon City, only this time players got to control Jill Valentine once again. It also introduced a new monstrous enemy, named Nemesis, a Tyrant deployed within Raccoon City for the sole purpose of killing the remaining S.T.A.R.S. members. Unlike previous enemies, or even the previous Tyrants, this creature was truly intelligent, able to track Jill throughout the city and hunt her down using weapons. Jills first encounter with Nemesis happens early in the game when heading towards the Raccoon City Police Station. A severely wounded Brad Vickers, the helicopter pilot from the first game, appears and attempts to warn her, but before he can, Nemesis drops in front of him, grabs him by the face, and impales him through the mouth with a tentacle. Jill then has to decide whether to stand and fight it or run into the police station. This scene is memorable because it is the very first encounter with the main antagonist of the game, and his brutal slaying of a friend enforces his terrifying nature. Nemesis continues to pursue you throughout the entire game, and unlike previous enemies, who only remain in one area, he can chase you through multiple areas. This simple effect ups the anxiety meter substantially. Fighting it is a pointless waste of ammo, so you can only run and hope to escape. The result is one of video games most intimidating villains, and his introduction is definitely unforgettable.
