10 Unintentionally Creepy Video Game Characters

9. Loot Midget - Borderlands

By appearances alone, the so-called "loot midgets" aren't really much of a threat; going by their diminutive size, it would appear that they're really more of a comic enemy to vanquish rather than a viable threat. However, the jack-in-a-box style in which they jump out of various loot objects, be it fridges, weapons chests, dumpsters and lockers, certainly provides more than its share of jumps, and the character design is sufficiently Mad Max-inspired that they're really just a bit creepy in the end. I think part of it is that we never see their faces; we know there's something behind there, but the thought that it could be severely scarred or burned adds more terrifying mystique. Also, their S&M-inspired physique unsettles, given that most of the loot midgets have various spikes sticking out of their bodies. We don't even want to know how they got there. Though throughout Borderlands you do get used to these little fellas jumping out of nowhere, the first few times in particularly are genuinely creepy, in a game that really only pitches itself as a humourous, scare-free action adventure game.
