10 Unintentionally Hilarious 90s Horror Video Games
1. Night Trap (1992)
1992's Sega CD exclusive Night Trap is perhaps more let down by its legacy than by its actual gameplay. A simple pseudo-puzzle title that only vaguely represents anything related to horror, it was once considered to be so totally heinous that it was quite literally brought on trial for corruption of the nation's youth: a modern day Socrates, just with way more pillow fighting and tennis racket air guitar.
While Night Trap can be funny in it sown right, it is downright hilarious when discussed by politicians amid a hearing concerning an apparent disturbing media consumption crisis. It may be a pretty bad game, but not for the reasons Tipper Gore may have thought.
Worse still is that the game's total reliance on an underdeveloped FMV technology meant that players had to squint at a tiny, pixelated box to follow what was going on in-game. Plus, with content that could hardly be stretched past the two hour mark, Night Trap is only worth a mocking playthrough in the modern era.
That said, the game has recently been re-released for the Nintendo Switch, of all consoles, so those still hoping to offend their soccer mom parents may want to check it out.
