10 Unwritten Rules Of Gaming Everyone Knows

6. If You Walk Into An Arena, Save

Elder Scrolls Oblivion Arena
Bethesda

Assuming your video game of choice lets you manually save, you’re going to want to do that as soon as you see a round room with a bunch of chest high walls and a few too many healing items or supplies. This is a sure-fire sign that a boss battle is imminent and you’re going to want to immediately stop and save, run a mental scan of the defensible positions in the room and figure out what you’re going to do when you wander three steps forward and all hell breaks loose.

This rings true for old classics like The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time all the way up to your face-off with Smasher in Cyberpunk 2077.

Round rooms are bad news and every gamer knows it... Unless you’re totally overleveled and kitted up to the nines. Then you aren’t trapped in there with them, they’re trapped in there with you.
