10 Upcoming 2023 Video Games We're REALLY Worried About
1. Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League
Towards the tail end of last year, WhatCulture had this to say about Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League: "Unless Rocksteady have undergone a severe talent enema in the intervening years, we're confident Suicide Squad will be further proof of their reputation as superhero savants."
After watching the game's 16 minute showcase in Sony's latest State of Play, it's clear that someone in Rocksteady set the hose at full blast and forgot to turn it off.
Suicide Squad looks awful - a cheap, cynical lifeless cash-in that strips all potential from the concept in favour of regurgitating the same tired live-service tropes that doomed Marvel's Avengers. Could whoever's whispering into game publishers' ears that tedious inventory management and floaty combat are key components of the super-hero fantasy please stop?
Suicide Squad looks like an ugly, mismanaged mess of a game that openly bears the scars of its torturous development, and is already the frontrunner for the biggest disappointment of 2023.
Postives? Well, we'll say this for Rocksteady: given the Suicide Squad's entire schtick is being sent out to die, we respect the developer's commitment to the source material by releasing a game so obviously destined to go down in flames.
