10 Upcoming Video Games Being Sent Out To Die
7. Gotham Knights
While just about any Batman video game is going to receive a ton of attention from fans, Gotham Knights is a bit of a curious case considering that Batman's actually dead in it, with the story instead focused on Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin, and Red Hood restoring peace to Gotham City.
Gotham Knights is an action-RPG with co-op functionality from WB Games Montréal, the outfit behind Batman: Arkham Origins, though reportedly exists within its own continuity away from the Arkham series.
Despite its on-paper potential, reactions to gameplay footage have been mixed, if we're being kind, citing janky, floaty combat and a general feeling that Warner Bros. is putting this game out to try and squeeze some lazy, easy money from the lucrative DC IP.
The vibe is rather reminiscent of Square Enix's Marvel's Avengers - a generic and underwhelming AAA superhero title that failed to make much of a dent with players.
Considering that Gotham Knights' marketing push has been considerably more muted than Marvel's Avengers, it feels like Warner Bros. knows this thing isn't going to hit well, and has already turned their attention to focusing on other, more promising DC games, namely Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League and Wonder Woman.
