Tentatively slated for release on December 31, 2018, Moons of Madness promises to take the eldritch terrors of H.P. Lovecraft to an all new setting: the harsh, dead wasteland of Mars.

Described as a first-person psychological horror experience, there are definitely more than a few subtle nods to the Bioshock series evident in the brief snippets of gameplay fans have thus far been shown. Though the game doesn’t look to boast a combat system similar to the aforementioned series, it looks to be very similar in terms of tone and atmosphere.

Just as the original Bioshock title won fans over through its carefully-crafted, claustrophobic environment, Moons of Madness looks to closely replicate that wonderfully hideous sense of tense isolation.

Imagine the terrifying stealth-centric gameplay from Burial at Sea Part 2, but replace the Big Daddies with a few shoggoths: that looks to be the sort of thing players will be dealing with in this upcoming horror release.

The game was first revealed back in 2017, but the developers have since been pretty tight-lipped concerning their progress on the game. With any luck, Moons of Madness will be out sooner than later.
