6. Gears Of War 4

Release Date: Q4 2016 The Buzz: It's the first core entry into the Gears franchise since 2011's third game, an apparently direct sequel which introduces two new characters, JD and Kait, and boasts the series' characterstically bleak visuals, rendered for the first time in more vivid detail than ever on the Xbox One. The most curious aspect of the game's production is that developer Epic Games has been replaced with newbies The Coalition, and given that this will be their first AAA title (ignoring their recent remastering of the original Gears, of course), it's going to be an acid test as to whether the series can survive with Epic at the helm. What's been shown off so far looks visually stunning and consistent with the brutality of previous games. Better-developed characters wouldn't go amiss this time, though...
