10 Ups & 4 Downs For AEW: Fight Forever - REVIEW
4. Road To Elite Replayability
Wrestling fans have long adored a good career/story mode, and AEW: Fight Forever serves up a belter with its Road to Elite.
Here, players can choose to take control of an AEW talent or a created wrestler, and play through one full year of action. You'll start off as an entrant in Double or Nothing's Casino Battle Royale, but that's about the only thing that's for sure about this mode.
From there, you create your own path depending on match results, locations visited, and interactions with various AEW personnel.
Primarily, you'll compete on AEW Dynamite and PPVs, but Road to Elite offers up the chance to have additional matches on Rampage and Dark, with each in-ring outing bringing plentiful rewards yet also the prospect of suffering an injury should you overdo it.
Complete with a fun Street Fighter-inspired travel screen, you'll visit different cities as part of Road to Elite. And it's here where Fight Forever is much more than 'just' a wrestling game. Each new city brings with it the chance to explore the local landmarks and sample the local cuisine, with such adventures bringing with it an actual educational slant as you learn the history of these cities, their sights, and their food.
Of course, these landmarks and restaurant jaunts also at times will see you bump into some of your co-workers, which in itself can influence your Road to Elite journey.
With so many variables and possible story strands - not to mention collectables - Road to Elite is a fantastic mode which offers up so much replayability, with each new go-around bringing something new to discover.
