10 Useful Video Game Companions That SUCKED To Hang Out With

4. Professor E. Gadd - Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon

Resident Evil 5 Sheva
Nintendo

Now, it's impossible to deny the usefulness of Professor E. Gadd in Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon - the guy provides Luigi with all of his nifty ghost-catching gadgets, after all, ranging from a flashlight to the Poltergust 5000 to the Nintendo DS-esque "Dual Scream."

Gadd can also lend the player a helping hand if they get lost during a mission, so it'd be ludicrous to say that he isn't a valuable ally to have, even if he does also seem a little over-eager to start calling Luigi up.

Gadd's helpfulness often veers over into outright pushiness as his "assistance" is so often unwarranted to more inquisitive players keen to explore and play the game at their own pace.

That's without even considering how often Gadd mocks Luigi for being a scaredy-cat, which is just pretty damn mean all things considered. He's a textbook example of a character who is invaluable to Luigi even though he ultimately just talks way too damn much.
