10 Useful Video Game Companions That SUCKED To Hang Out With

2. The Dog - Fable II

Who doesn't love a good dog in a video game? They're among the most agreeable and least objectionable of all gaming companions, though Fable II sure as hell tried to persuade players otherwise.

In the game, the player's companion character is an unnamed dog who they befriend in childhood.

Said dog follows the player around for the bulk of the game and serves a few major purposes in gameplay - beyond, y'know, companionship - with their ability to help fight enemies and, best of all, sniff out treasure.

The problem, however, is that the dog's AI design is seemingly intended to make him as much of an annoying hindrance as possible. For starters, he barks all the damn time, and his pathfinding routines often result in him either wandering way off or just getting in the way during combat.

Oh, and he's decidedly less useful in combat than seeking out treasure, it has to be said.

Even bonafide dog lovers will have their allegiances challenged by this digital canine's charmlessly dopey, overbearing presence.
