10 Useless Video Game Abilities You WASTED Skill Points On
10. V.A.N.S. - Fallout 4
Fallout 4's V.A.N.S. perk - that's Vault-Tec Assisted Navigational System - will draw a green line pointing out what's supposedly the most efficient path for players to reach their next objective.
But for starters, the perk doesn't really seem within the spirit of the Fallout series, does it?
Going off-piste and getting distracted by a side mission or random encounter is exactly what makes the franchise so great, and so the game allowing players to literally paint a straight line to where they need to go feels entirely counter to the Fallout philosophy.
But even if you accept it on its own terms, V.A.N.S. often doesn't work as intended. Inside buildings in particular, where it's theoretically at its most useful, the perk frequently confuses itself, and so you're better off just using your compass while spending your skill points elsewhere.
