10 USELESS Video Game Skills You Were Tricked Into Buying
5. Xenosociology - Starfield
High social skills can be incredibly useful in Starfield. Whether you're intimidating someone, persuading them, or just lying to their face, your charisma allows you to tell people to do things your way and let you get away with pretty much anything.
However, most social skills work only on humans. In order to influence the alien creatures you encounter in the game, you'll need to invest in a special Master rank social skill called Xenosociology.
The skill allows you to pacify hostile creatures, flee from combat, and even temporarily join you as an ally. And while all of this sounds amazing, unfortunately, there is a certain limitation that makes this skill pretty much worthless.
Regardless of which Xenosociology ability you use, you can't influence aliens that are ten levels higher than you. This means that you can only pacify creatures that you would normally be able to kill in seconds anyway, and the creatures you ally are likely to experience the same embarrassingly quick death.
What's worse is that Xenosociology is a Master rank skill, so you'll have to gather a lot of points just to be able to use it. You're better off investing in your weapon skills.
