10 Video Game Abilities That Would Kick Ass In Real Life
4. Experience Points
The Ability: One of the defining characteristics of the RPG genre is experience points, which are accrued by completing quests and killing enemies, the result being that you level up, which in turn allows you to purchase better weapons and gear and fight bigger enemies, and so the cycle repeats itself. It keeps players in the loop about how they're progressing and adds a little incentive and purpose to play, so that your mindless grind seems like it's actually something more. In Real Life: Much like the stats menu from GTA, how awesome would it be for everything you do to contribute to experience points? If you go for a run, you've got an exercise level, and if you choose to neglect it, that level can drop, just like it does in GTA: San Andreas. It would help motivate our daily lives a little more, especially if our level could easily be compared with our friends, for instance.
