10 Video Game Betrayals Nobody Saw Coming

2. Sam - Uncharted 4

Uncharted 4 Sam
Naughty Dog

Uncharted 4's entire reason to exist is Sam Drake, Nathan Drake's long lost brother who brings the adventurer out of retirement for one last treasure hunt. Naughty Dog needed a pretty good reason to ruin Nate's domestic bliss, so they had his sibling return from the dead, having broken out of jail with crime lord Hector Alcazar and forced to work for him, unless have his head on the chopping block.

However, halfway through it turns out there was no grand breakout at all, no debt needed to be repaid, and no Hector Alcazar.

The whole story was a way for Sam to get his brother back in the game and finish an adventure they started as kids. It's motivation which makes him far from a villain, but it's a certainly a dick move to put Nate's home life in jeopardy and lie to him after so much time away.
