Tony Hawk games were never going to win any awards when it came to their narratives. After all, from Underground onwards they were pretty much just Jackass skits pasted in between skate competitions. That only makes it even more impressive, however, that they managed to create a genuinely loathsome nemesis in Eric Sparrow.

The player character's best friend in the first THUG release, the two of you rise the ranks together, breaking out of their s****y New Jersey suburb by impressing Jesse Peralta and going on to rub shoulders with the biggest and best skaters in the business.

Unfortunately, along the way your best pal gets a little jealous that you're getting all the attention doing McTwists over helicopters, and it turns out he's been sabotaging your success the whole time, even getting you dropped by your team and sponsor.

Admittedly, in hindsight one look at this guy should have told us all we needed to know about him.
