10 Video Game Bosses That Learned From Their Mistakes

8. Miles Edgeworth - Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney

Alien Isolation
Capcom

The rivarly between Pheonix Wright and Miles Edgeworth is an iconic part of the series. Their back and forths make for a really intense and entertaining spectacle, but none of this would be possible if Pheonix's stern and justice-obsessed adversary didn't have the wit to turn his failures into more ammunition to use in the courtroom.

Edgeworth is an incredibly cunning individual, and he is not above bending the law just a little bit to ensure that every potential criminal is thrown behind bars. Whenever Wright brings up a good point that topples his plans and wins the jury's favor, Edgeworth is capable of turning the narrative on its head.

With each loss in the courtroom, Edgeworth learns a new way to prevent Wright from gaining any more advantage. When you get important evidence from the crime scene, he will coerce Detective Gumshoe into keeping you away from it the next day. And every time you manage to present your case in a convincing fashion, Edgeworth always follows it up with a condradiction, and he's totally smug about it.

He may be annoying to deal with, but let's be honest. Without Edgeworth's snappy retorts, the Ace Attorney series wouldn't be such a classic.
