Though Dragonforce's "Through the Fire and Flames" isn't technically the final boss in Guitar Hero III, it is unlocked after completing the final song, and serves as one final, bird-flipping provocation to players confident they've mastered everything the game has to offer.

The track is infamous among fans as the most challenging from any game in the series, with the 7+ minute song throwing such an assault of notes at the player that it's easy to fail with less than 5% of it completed.

The song contains over 3,700 notes with an average rate of 8.54 notes per second on Expert difficulty, ensuring only the most dedicated players can even scrape through it on Hard, let alone Expert.

Many have spent hours, even tens of hours trying in vain, and the song ultimately proved tough enough that it took the community more than six months for a single player to finally nail a full combo play-through.

Last year, an absolute madman actually managed to full combo the song blindfolded, and because the original song isn't challenging enough anymore, the hardcore crowd have taken to speeding the song up. As of last summer, full combo has been achieved at 150% speed.

But for your typical, moderately decent Guitar Hero player? Completing this song on Expert was just plain out of reach, no matter how effortlessly you nailed the rest of the game's tracks.
