10 Video Game Bosses That Used Your Best Move Against You

These bosses loved your moves so much they stole them!

The beloved playwright/poet Oscar Wilde once said, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." While that is a lovely sentiment, Wilde clearly never had his best move stolen in a video game.

One of the most satisfying feelings in gaming is when you get familiar with your character's best move, using it to mow down enemies and tackle tough bosses reliably. Gaining reliance on a special trick is comforting, rewarding and gives you a go-to strategy when pummelling your foes. But, this is not always a one-way street.

Sometimes, your skills become a hindrance, as your enemies pull an Uno reverse card and send them right back at you.

Getting beaten by a boss is already frustrating enough, but being beaten by your own move is incredibly embarrassing. The following ten bosses thrived on this, as they had no problem giving you a taste of your own medicine.

Some of these bosses stole your best moves wholesale and attacked you with them directly, while others went even further by becoming a full version of you. Ultimately, they allowed you to see what it's like when the shoe is on the other foot.

10. Mimic Tear - Elden Ring

Elden Ring is, in typical FromSoft fashion, full of crafty and dastardly baddies who can obliterate you with no problem. Margott The Omen King, the Godskin Duo, Malenia Blade of Miquella, and more certainly have their unique tricks, but this enemy looked directly at you and said, "I'll have what they're having."

The Mimic Tear is an optional boss that feels less like a battle with an epic monster and more like an encounter with yourself as it shapes itself to become identical to you. In many ways, you can think of it as Ditto from Pokemon, only way more violent, less wholesome, and much tougher to beat.

This creature mimics your look, weapons, and build, giving you a full chance to fight against the work and skills you've put into the game, and even assess your progress. Naturally, this gives the boss fight a unique and fun edge, as you have to contend with a whole new sort of challenge and take a look at your Tarnished.

However, you can take advantage of this creatures abilities by grabbing the Mimic Tear Spirit Ash, which essentially doubles your power by allowing you to summon a direct copy of your character. Buy one, get one free!
