10 Video Game Bosses That Were Legitimately Broken

8. Branch D's Final Boss - Drakengard 3

Yoko Taro sure loves trolling players, huh? His action-RPG threequel is defined by its addictive hack 'n' slash gameplay...at least until Branch D's final boss fight, which abandons said gameplay in favour of a brutally difficult rhythm game sequence.

Running almost 10 minutes in length, the fight has no checkpoints and a single wrong move will result in you having to start again, complete with sitting through an unskippable, 40-second pre-fight cut-scene.

Making matters worse, the camera appears to intentionally obscure your view of the action throughout, with Taro presumably wanting players to use their ears rather than their eyes.

This is typified by the fact that, at the very end of the fight, the screen goes black and players are left to play only by ear.

The fight is so ludicrous that fans have even posted videos to help players with the timing, but let's be honest, the fight left many so spiritually broken they just watched the end of the game on YouTube instead.
