8. The Kayran - The Witcher 2: Assassins Of Kings

Though The Witcher 2's first boss, The Kayran, is absolutely no picnic, players should nevertheless have a pretty clear idea of what to attack from the moment the battle starts.

Generously, four of the Kayran's tentacles have glowing red growths on them, indicating that this is where the beast is vulnerable to being trapped with Yrden and then hacked at by your sword. Ignore the two non-glowing tentacles at the front, though, because they're invulnerable.

The fight is still undeniably challenging, largely because a single tentacle hit causes such a massive amount of damage, and so the glowing vulnerabilities are likely a developmental compromise to at least let players know what they should be doing.
