10 Video Game Bosses You Can Trick Into Killing Themselves

2. The Fear (Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater)

Another boss in Metal Gear Solid 3 who you can trick into an unusual death, The Fear is an insanely cool character who uses a Predator-style cloaking device to hide himself from view as he darts between the tree branches up above.

It's quite an intimidating fight, because - without the use of thermal goggles, at least - he's a hard foe to keep track of, and his rapid movement speed can make him a tough target to pin down.

Fortunately, The Fear will climb down from the tree branches to seek out food when his stamina reaches a certain threshold, giving you the opportunity to get extra sneaky with your fighting tactics and trick the character into eating some poisonous grub.

He'll start looking for some munch in order to replenish his stamina, and when he does so, simply chuck some poisoned or rotten food onto the ground and he should make a beeline right for it, gobbling it down ravenously. This will hurt him even further and speed the encounter along, and thankfully, he's a massive idiot, because he'll go for this tainted food more than once.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
