10 Video Game Bosses You Can Trick Into Killing Themselves

1. The Master (Fallout)

The original Fallout game is a wildly different beast to the open-world FPS series we know today, a 2.5D top-down adventure that has you, among other things, choosing dialogue options from a massive interface plonked in the middle of the screen.

These dialogue options can have a massive impact on the type of experience the player has - you might choose to use your powers of persuasion to minimise the amount of combat encounters you face, for example - and this extends to the game's final boss, the Master, who can be beaten by simply talking to him and convincing him to blow himself up.

Sure, you could fight him the good old fashioned way, but it's a tough battle even for the most seasoned of Vault Dwellers. Luckily, if you have a high enough Intelligence stat and Speech skill, you can choose certain dialogue options that will convince the gooey, misshapen Master that his race will die out within a generation, leading to him setting off a nuke and taking his own life. Easy peasy.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
