Most boss encounters in Yoshi's Island begin the same way. As you enter the boss room, you'll be confronted with a regular enemy. Just before you have a chance to squish them, Bowser's righthand Magikoopa, Kamek, soars in, using his magic to enlarge the baddie to boss-sized proportions.

Although many of these encounters are easy, Naval Piranha is a tough nut to crack. Because his vulnerable belly button is under the platform you're standing on, you can't hit this monstrous flower directly. Instead, you needs to shoot an egg diagonally at the lower wall, causing it to skate under the platform and hit the piranha's weak spot.

Not only is this manoeuvre tricky, Naval Piranha will constantly interrupt you by charging or summoning Nipper plants.

If you can't be bothered with this boss, you can skip it entirely. If you hit your enemy with an egg before Kamek works his literal magic on him, he'll die immediately. Kamek will then fly in, yelling, "OH MY!" before exiting. And with that, you'll be rewarded with the key (that you totally didn't deserve), allowing you to continue with your adventure.
