2. Jormungandr - Magicka

Magicka is a 2011 game about eccentric wizards creating powerful spell combos that spawn earthquakes, meteor showers, and even giant death lasers that pulverize everything in their path.

With a premise like this, it's pretty obvious that the player has a lot of freedom when it comes to how they want to deal with the game's bosses. And sometimes, this freedom can yield pretty surprising and hilarious effects.

At one point in the game, the player stumbles upon the layer of the Norse snake deity, Jormungandr. Your trusty and definitely not vampiric companion Vlad hypes up the beast to be a foe not to be trifled with, which then awakens Jormungandr and prompts him to fight you. The snake has a ton of health, but if you know which spells to use on him, fighting him can actually end in just a few seconds.

Because Jormungandr moves around the stage by traveling underground, the player can douse the dirt in oil and then set it on fire in order to trap him. The ring of flames prevents the creature from escaping while simultaneously burning it to ash at a frightening speed.

If only Norse mythology accounted for the flammability of magical grease.
