10 Video Game Buttons You Shouldn't Have Pressed (But Totally Did)

2. Blasto's Double Cross - Blasto

Blasto game
Sony

If you're not familiar with Blasto, a sci-fi game that came out for the PS1, then I don't blame you as it completely flew under my radar as well.

That's mainly because Sony's 3D action platformer wasn't the best, but it turns out that in this game - which focused on this blimp of a hero's quest to rescue "space babes" from an evil alien overlord - there exists a clever inversion of player expectation.

First, the setup: A button that reads clearly "do not push" and if the player does, will see them burned to a crisp.

Seems pretty fair, but later on there's another of these buttons, which if you choose to engage with, will actually see you REWARDED for your troubles.

Isn't that nice? Nearly makes up for destroying me earlier, but nowhere near making up for how this game controlled.
