Legend of Zelda characters like Tingle, Epona, and Gohma have developed such a dedicated fanbase, it's encouraged Nintendo to reincorporate them into multiple instalments. Since LoZ is composed of hundreds of cherished heroes, villains, and bosses, a few get lost in the shuffle, regardless of their popularity.

And yet, it's surprising how Link's oldest friend, Saria, hasn't appeared since her debut in Ocarina of Time.

Not only is Saria the first person Link sees in OTT after walking out of his house, she's the one who gifts The Hero of Time with the Fairy Ocarina. She's also the only person to see Link off on his adventure when he leaves his home forever. When Link becomes an adult, the first Temple he visits is safeguarded by Saria.

But it's not just Saria who has disappeared. Her species, the child-like Kokiri, have never appeared after Ocarina of Time.

Since the Hyrule forests are protected by sentient plants called Koroks in the later entries, it's been theorised the Kokiri have evolved into these cute little creatures.

Whether this is true or not, it's still a shame Link's dearest companion is no longer a part of The Legend of Zelda.
