Before the Resident Evil games got a new lease on life with Biohazard and Village, the survival horror series hit what was considered its weakest mainline entry. This was, of course, Resident Evil 6.

By shifting focus from the nerve-wracking horror the series is known for into over-the-top action that had more quick time events than zombies, this game failed to impress many.

However, there was one shining beacon of light in this misfire, and that was Jake Muller.

A newcomer to the series, Muller is an Umbrella mercenary who finds himself joining forces with a grown-up Sherry Birkin as they attempt to escape another viral outbreak.

Thanks to the many motorcycle chases and bland combat encounters that playing as Jake involves, completing his campaign was a less than enjoyable experience for fans. However, despite this, Muller was nevertheless a standout part of this game.

Not only did the blossoming comradery between him and Sherry become part of the emotional core of the larger story at hand, but his surprise reveal to be Albert Wesker's son gave him a deeper and more meaningful connection to the series too.

Jake is a great character who had the misfortune of appearing in a bad game.
