During the events of Red Dead Redemption 2, gruff cowboy hero Arthur Morgan doesn't have an especially fun time. He's on the constant run from the law with his gang which is slowly falling apart. He watches his closest friends die horribly in front of him. And, to top it all off, he contracts tuberculosis.

If one good thing happened to Arthur, however, it was happening upon a one-legged veteran named Hamish Sinclair.

First encountered during Chapter 6 around O'Creagh's Run, Hamish asks Arthur to return his horse after it threw him and bolted. Arthur obliges, which leads the pair to spend more time together.

As both grizzled outdoorsmen fish and hunt, they begin to share stories with each other and talk about their lives. A strong friendship quickly forms, which by this point in the game is the closest Arthur comes to living a normal life away from the trouble that surrounds him.

Unfortunately, this friendship wasn't meant to last. During one spontaneous hunting trip to catch a giant boar, the beast gores Hamish when the pair decide to split up to look for it.

One of the genuinely good-hearted characters Arthur meets, Hamish was someone who didn't deserve his untimely fate.
