10 Video Game Characters Whose Fates Are Never Resolved

8. Batman - Batman: Arkham Knight

Probably DC Comics most beloved property, Batman has enjoyed a huge resurgence in popularity over the last 15 years. Not only did Christian Bale's performance as the Dark Knight wow cinema-goers (along with one Mr Heath Ledger, of course) but the world was also treated to some superb video games courtesy of Rocksteady.

The Arkham video games are a great example of how a series can develop in a relatively short space of time - six years in fact! Fans loved Arkham Asylum but criticised its repetitive combat and, rather than get all moody about it, Rocksteady took the feedback on board and made things better for Arkham City and better still for Arkham Knight.

However, the improvements in gameplay don't excuse the developers from allowing the series many had invested countless hours in to end so poorly for the Dark Knight.

Broken by Scarecrow's toxin, the villain proceeds to reveal Batman's secret identity on television before getting a knuckle sandwich from Jason Todd - Batman's former protege - and a taste of his own medicine/toxin.

From here, your guess is as good as anyone else's as the legendary 'Knightfall Protocol' is activated, and Bruce Wayne fakes his own death (AGAIN!).

Sure, we get a teaser that the Bat could be back at the end, but that could truly be anyone in the suit, as scaring everyone immediately after makes no sense.
