10 Video Game Characters Whose Fates Are Never Resolved
5. Link - The Legend Of Zelda Franchise
With the Hyrule Historia book comprising Zelda's 33 year-long timeline, Nintendo have confirmed that some of the entries in the franchise are second and even third adventures for the same Link.
Assumedly, we should know what happens when the world is saved, right?
Wrong! At time of writing, no Link has ever had what you would call a 'final resolution' or a confirmed fate.
For example: Ocarina of Time's Link might have been killed at the hands of Ganon, going on to live hack & slash Groundhog Day in Termina before becoming a ghostly combat teacher. Or he claimed victory over that evil and was never seen again.
Aside of being hacked down by Ganon, none of these outcomes provide any resolution. How did he become a fully corporeal ghost? Where did he go if he wasn't bothered about saving the world again?
This is just one Link, and don't even think about going down the rabbit hole of A Link to the Past, Link's Awakening and the Oracle games, because it's all the same Link. All of it.
Yet we still get no resolution as the final entry for this Link is the Oracle games, but they offer no ending after the Ganon fight either.
Maybe, one day, we will get a nice sign off for all of history's Links... but it is not this day.
