10 Video Game Characters With Terrible Secrets You Totally Missed
6. The Sheriff Is Not A Vampire - Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines
The Sheriff is the huge and monstrous-looking enforcer of Prince LaCroix from Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines.
Because the Sheriff never talks and his master doesn't share any information about him, he is one of the most enigmatic characters in the game. His inhuman appearance and bizarre abilities have led many players to speculate as to what vampire clan he might belong to, and surprisingly, despite it never being mentioned directly, the game does provide an answer.
The name of his giant bat form that you fight towards the end of the game, combined with the fact that Jack tells you the Sheriff comes from Africa, helped diehard fans of Troika's masterpiece figure out the Sheriff is a Nagloper - a special bloodline of African vampires called Laibon with access to terrifying shapeshifting abilities.
The Naglopers are known as being especially cruel and sadistic creatures, even for vampires, using their powers to deform victims into grotesque parodies of human bodies.
It makes you worry about what the Sherrif might be doing off-screen, when he isn’t chasing after you.
It also makes you wonder how someone like LaCroix managed to convince him to join him.
