10 Video Game Cheats Everyone Used

5. "IDDQD" (God Mode) - Doom

The Doom games are more than ground-breaking FPS games: they're delirious power fantasies where players get to kick a hellscape's worth of demonic ass.

But it's also fair to say that the original 1993 Doom is pretty tough even for the standards of retro FPS titles, and so you might've needed a little help to truly feel like an unstoppable Bringer of Death.

And so, Doom's God Mode cheat is one of the most popular of all time - simply type "iddqd" during gameplay and you'll have your health set to 100 while being impervious to all kinds of damage.

If video games are primarily escapist entertainment, nothing quite says escapism like bursting into a demon-filled room and fearlessly pumping them with everything in your arsenal.

It might lack the "glory" of beating the game the hard way, but given how difficult the original Doom actually is, glory's probably a tad overrated - and definitely less fun.
