10 Video Game Companions So Powerful They Made YOU Feel Like The Sidekick

4. Sarevok Anchev - Baldur's Gate 2

Sarevok is a reoccurring villain in the Baldur's Gate series that can actually be recruited as a companion in the second game.

As the chosen spawn of the god of murder, Bhaal, Sarevok is nearly responsible for ending the world in Baldur's Gate 1, but in the second game, after his defeat, he appears as a soul that asks you to resurrect him in exchange for helping you defeat a new threat brewing on the horizon.

Although Sarevok plays a small role in the sequel, being a simple companion, his dreadful reputation and personal development throughout the game make it feel as if he were actually the game's central figure and you were only there to witness his new life.

The other characters in the game always refer to him and his past, and as the story develops, Sarevok can undergo a huge change from a villainous demi-god to a rehabilitated hero, which feels like an important extension of the original title that pushes the beef between you and the sequel's villain aside.

This said, if you're bitter about Sarevok's redemption taking the spotlight, you can rest easy knowing it's completely irrelevant in the end, as the progress is all erased with his return to villainy in Baldur's Gate 3.
