10 Video Game Deaths That Only Made The Characters Stronger

What doesn't kill you makes your opponents stronger!

You know the phrase: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger." Well, some video game characters really take it to heart, and instead of lying down dead after you kick their butt, they decide to rethink the life they've lost and start another one, better and stronger than ever.

That's right! It's a pretty common trope in the video game world to have bosses come back for seconds, but some of them like to do it even after they've been definitely taken out of the picture.

They might've exploded right in front of you, lost important body parts, or been blown away with an arsenal that will ensure you won't bring them back to their coffin so easily. However, somehow they always make a comeback, and, more surprisingly, they are better because of it! They gain new powers, employ new strategies, and become more resistant to whatever did them in the first time around.

If you thought you could get rid of the following bosses, think again! It isn't as easy as just killing them (although killing them a second time should probably do the trick).

10. Baldur - God Of War

The most memorable part of the recent God of War games is probably the fight with Baldur. It's an epic duel between two godly warriors, filled with unexpected twists and turns. The fight ends on a pretty high note too, with Kratos absolutely wiping the floor with the Norse god, snapping his neck and shoving him off a cliff.

However, as satisfying and adrenaline-pumping as that showdown is, it's actually not the last time you hear from Baldur.

As you progress through the story, you learn that the god has been cursed with immortality by his mother, Freya. To keep him from harm's way, Freya made her son not feel anything, including pain and joy. This has prevented him from suffering mortal wounds but also turned him into a bitter and hateful man.

After you learn of his affliction, Kratos gets to finally break Baldur's curse and put him to rest once and for all. However, your second fight is much harder than the last.

Not only does Baldur retain his godlike strength from the first encounter, but he also gains two elemental forms, which require you to quickly alternate between your fighting stances.

Moral of the story? Overly protective parents can be a curse. Literally!
