One of the most beloved video games of all-time delivered, of course, one of the most memorable endings inherent to the medium.

Gamers the world over spent hours and hours immersed in the land of Hyrule, and after Link's quest to save Princess Zelda and defeat the evil Ganondorf was over, players found themselves floating in a sky-like vacuum. At this point, Zelda apologies for dragging you into the mess that was the whole game, and decides to make it up to you. No, she doesn't do anything seedy, wrong-minded reader - instead, she sends you back to the past.

As the credits begin to roll, players are treated to a montage featuring the places and characters that they visited and encountered over the course of the game, as the brilliant musical score soars. If that wasn't enough to leave you tingling with joy, the game then throws a further curveball: Link appears back in his own time... and as a boy again!

It was a happy but somewhat melancholy way to end the game, but seeing Link as a boy was bound to leave players totally speechless. Especially as your companion for the entire adventure, Navi, silently flies away, and the camera hones in on the Master Sword. And it's still not over: the final shot of the game has Young Link approaching Young Zelda. As the pair stare enigmatically at one another, the game majestically freezes in sepia. Wow.
